2. Event Background
Every city, town, and village is the target of the homesick hearts of its inhabitants, and every festival records our countless memories. In this way, cities and festivals converge like a knot, forming the trajectory of our lives.
The 2023 International Design Week, organized by Tianjin University, focuses on each city's souvenirs available for sale during their unique festivals, with the goal of stimulating innovation through the power of design, showcasing the characteristics of one's city, embracing different cultures, and spreading bright smiles.
3. Event Organization and Form
The event is co-organized by Tianjin University’s School of Mechanical Engineering and the School of International Education. The International Design Week hopes to stimulate participating students' interest in design through scientific lectures on various topics. At the same time, professors of Tianjin University will participate in the discussion of each group online, guiding students to carry out their designs and improve their hands-on skills. At the end of the event, students will make a presentation or showcase their work, and the judges will evaluate the students’ presentation or showcase.
4. Target Group and Size of the Event
Outstanding students in their senior year of science classes from leading high schools in each country (in principle, ranked in the top 50%), with an initial plan of 160 students.

6. Application Process and Language
Applicants need to complete the Online Application Process on the International Student Service System (tju.at0086.cn/student) before May 15th. Applicants should select the major of Industrial Design for Short-term Program, upload high school transcripts and English language proficiency certificates, and pay the application fee of 420 RMB. Students who pass the academic review will be eligible to participate in the 2023 Tianjin University International Design Week.

7. Awards and Certificates
All students who participate in the event will receive souvenirs and a certificate of completion. With this certificate, students will be given priority when applying to the 2024 Tianjin University undergraduate program. In addition, for students who have performed well in the examination, the following awards are planned:
(1) Ranking Prizes
A total of five prizes, which are to be determined by the event jury. Among them:
(a) One first prize winner: automatic admission to Tianjin University’s 2024 undergraduate program and receive the Qiushi scholarship.
(b) Two second prize winners: automatic admission to Tianjin University’s 2024 undergraduate program and receive a Tianjin University Type-A Scholarship.
(c) Two third prize winners: automatic admission to Tianjin University’s 2024 undergraduate program and receive a Tianjin University Type-B Scholarship.
(2) Special Award
One “Most Popular Award” winner, which is to be selected by online voting. The winner of which will automatically be granted admission to Tianjin University’s 2024 undergraduate program and a Tianjin University Type-A scholarship.
Note: If a student is awarded both a Ranking Prize and the Special Award, only the highest scholarship will be retained for the award.
