Master Program of MTCSOL at Tianjin University

I. Course Objective
Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MTCSOL) is a program which aims to cultivate high-level professionals who can teach Chinese as a second language both home and abroad, and undertake multi-type and multi-level teaching tasks worldwide.
To adapt to the international trend, Tianjin University starts to enroll foreign students majoring in Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MTCSOL) from 2016 and offer Confucius Institute Scholarship to excellent applicants.

 

II. Eligibility
1. Applicants should be foreign citizens with good health, aged below 35;
2. Applicants should be bachelor degree holders with the major related to education or Chinese;
3. Applicants should hold HSK 5 (180 score) certificate, and have a good command of Chinese Language.

 

III. Duration
2 years

 

IV. Curriculum
The total credits should be >=38 credits: including compulsory courses (>=18 credits), optional courses (>=12 credits), teaching practice(6 credits)and dissertation (2 credits) .

 

V. Scholarship and Application Procedures
Students can apply for Confucius Institute Scholarship.
Scholarship Coverage
Confucius Institute Scholarship provides full coverage including tuition fee, accommodation (double room), living allowance (3000RMB/month/person) and comprehensive medical insurance.

Application Materials
Applicants should log on to the Confucius Institute Scholarship website (http://cis.chinese.cn) to fill out the Confucius Institute Scholarship Application Form, and Application Form for International Students of Tianjin University (Click here to download) with the applicant’s signature, and attach the electronic files of the following materials:
1. A scanned copy of the passport photo page;
2. Notarized certificate of the highest diploma. If applicants are university students, they must provide an official pre-graduation certificate showing their student status and stating expected graduation date, the original certificate should be provided after admission. If applicants are employed, a proof of employment is to be submitted with the application. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English, the original and a copy must be submitted;
3. Notarized copy of the academic transcripts: Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English;
4. Two recommendation letters: Applicants need to submit two recommendation letters in English or Chinese from two professors or associate professors; (click here to download the letter);
5. A study or research plan not less than 800 words written in Chinese. All applicants must submit a study or research plan for the study period in China; (click here to download the plan);
6. HSK Certificate;
7. Certificate of Non-criminal Records.

 

VI. Application Deadline: June 30
Registration Date: August 25-26

 

VII. Admission
We will review all the application materials, and admission is based on merit. We will send the Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW202) to the final successful applicants by August 1st.
