I. Program Overview
Tianjin University (TJU) devotes to cultivating applied talents of Chinese language majors with comprehensive quality and helping students reach full potential. To meet global modernization demand, TJU has decided to offer Bachelor in Chinese Language (Cross-border Ecommerce Direction). Based on the existing traditional Chinese language course, bachelor in Chinese Language (Cross-border Ecommerce Direction) is established and open to international students as a Chinese taught undergraduate program. It seeks to train interdisciplinary professionals equipped with strong abilities of Chinese speaking and writing, a sound knowledge of humanities and social sciences, a deep understanding of basic theories and practical skills in terms of cross-border ecommerce and relevant capabilities including online marketing, event planning, and platform operation etc. Graduation certificate and bachelor degree will be awarded after students complete required courses and pass thesis defense and degree examination.
II. Course Setting
1. Basic courses
Comprehensive Chinese, Chinese Speaking, Chinese Listening, Chinese Reading, Chinese Writing, Intermediate Business Chinese, Advanced Business Chinese, Introduction into China, Fundamentals of Computer Science and Physical Education
2. Professional courses
Cross-border Ecommerce Overview, Cross-border Ecommerce Network Marketing, Cross-border Ecommerce Practice, Cross-border Online Store Design, Cross-border Ecommerce Payment and Settlement, International Business Negotiation Practice, International Ecommerce Customer Service and Cross-border Ecommerce Training
3. Elective Courses (for reference only)
Chinese Characters, Chinese Standard Pronunciation, Business Chinese Reading, Traditional Chinese Culture, Foreign Business Correspondence, Negotiation and Performance in Cross-border Transaction, Foreign Trade Merchandising Practice, Cross-border Ecommerce Platform Practice, Cross-border Logistics and Customer Clearance Training
III. Application Qualifications
1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport. The conditions set by the Document No. 12 (2020) of Ministry of Education of the PRC should be met.
2. Applicants should hold high school diplomas and be under the age of 25. Applicants who will still be under the age of 18 as of September 1st, 2023 must submit the original guardian certificate issued by the Tianjin District Notary Office, and the Guardian must be a permanent resident of Tianjin.
3. Language Proficiency
Applicants need to submit HSK certificates: A minimum requirement of HSK4 (Score 180 and above) is needed; HSK5 (Score 220 and above) is qualified for the exemption of some credits. (Applicants who complete the undergraduate study in Chinese are allowed to be exempted from providing HSK Certificates.)
4. Applicants have good conduct and good physical and mental health, and be willing to abide by the laws and regulations of China and Tianjin University.

V. Application
Applicants are required to register and log in the International Student Service System of TJU (website: https://tju.at0086.cn/student) to complete the online application according to the schedule. Applicants need to fill in the application information online and upload the application documents listed below.
1.Application Deadline
July 5th, 2023 (Due to the limited quota of scholarships, students who want to apply for scholarships must submit applications before April 15th, 2023)
Note: Due to limited admission quota, applicants are suggested to submit as early as possible.
2. Application Materials
2.1 Scan of original high school diploma or original notarized diploma. (Applicants can submit pre-graduation certificate if graduation certificate has not been obtained and submit the original highest diploma or original notarized diploma after admission).
2.2 Scan of notarized copy of the high school academic transcripts or scan of international standardized test results (such as SAT/ACT/A-Level/AP/IB etc.).
2.3 Photocopy of valid passport.
Applicants who have immigrated to other countries or whose parent is a Chinese national should provide proof of time for naturalization, proof of renunciation of Chinese nationality, and a visa record of recent four years.
2.4 Proof of Chinese or English proficiency (For specific requirements, please refer to application qualifications)

2.6 Personal statement or study plan (600 words at least).
2.7 Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form (It must be filled in English. The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the form. Please select an appropriate time for the medical examination as the medical results have a 6-month validity).
2.8 Applicants in China must submit a photocopy of Visa and Transfer Certificate issued by the present school.
2.9 The submission of the Certificate of Non-Criminal Records (Applicants of the graduating year can submit school certificate of good conduct or performance).
2.10 Other attachments (Self-financed or Tianjin University scholarship applicants shall provide Bank Statement or Income Certificate of Financial Guarantor. Applicants who are still under the age of 18 must submit the original guardian certificate, and the certificates of awards etc.)
3. Application Instructions
3.1 All uploaded documents should be original or notarized copies in Chinese or English. As for documents in other languages, the original documents and notarized translations should be submitted together to the application system.
3.2 Please scan and upload scanned copies of the original documents in color. Images captured by mobile phone or camera are not acceptable. Copies are not acceptable.
3.3 TJU has the right to request some applicants to provide the original or notarized hard copies of application documents or the certification documents issued by the designated certificate authority for further qualification checks. Applicants shall guarantee all the information and application documents submitted in this application are authentic and accurate, otherwise they will be disqualified from admission.
VI. Evaluation and Admission
TJU enrolls students based on evaluation of applicants’ academic scores, language proficiency and interview performance (Interview date will be announced afterwards). Please pay attention to your email box or log in the online application system of Tianjin University to check the application progress and status. Except for those nominated for Chinese Government Scholarship, the RMB 7000 deposit fee and RMB 420 application fee for other nominated students should be paid online and the screenshot sent to TJU online Application System (tju.at0086.cn/student). TJU will issue Admission Notice and Visa documents to those admitted in July after receiving the credentials. Students who give up studying in our school due to personal reasons will not be refunded their deposit fee and application fee.
Note: All freshmen need to attend language proficiency test after registration, and class will be assigned based on the test results.
VII. Scholarship
1. Chinese Government Scholarship (Type A)
Applicants should apply through Chinese Embassies or Consulates in the home country. For the contact information of Chinese embassies/consulates, please visit the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China. The application usually starts from November to April next year. When filling the Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form, please choose Tianjin University as the first choice. 2. Qiushi Scholarship /Tianjin University Scholarship
Applicants are required to fill in and sign the relevant application and upload the scanned copy into "Others" section of the online application system (tju.at0086.cn/student). (For more information, please click here.)
VIII. Visa Application and Registration
Admitted students should bring passport, Certificate of Admission, Visa Application for Study in China, and original Form of Physical Examination Record for Foreigners (as well as other original documents of physical examination) to the Embassy or Consulate of the People's Republic of China, and apply for a student visa (X1 visa). Students are required to arrive at Tianjin University with the required documents and complete registration during the dates indicated in the admission package.
Usually, registration is in late August or early September. All students should present the required original high school certificates, and submit the diploma copies certified by high school conferring institutions or certification authorities upon registration at Tianjin University for enrollment qualification review. Students who fail the enrollment qualification review will be disqualified from enrollment.
IX. Costs (Unit: RMB Yuan)
1. Application Fee: RMB 420 (No need to pay at application stage);
2. Tuition Fees: RMB 16600/year;
3. Accidental Injury and Hospitalization Insurance: RMB 800-1200/year;
4. Accommodation Fee: Weijin Road campus (RMB 60/day per person for single room, RMB 50/day per person for twin room).
